EXPERIENCE June 2003 - October 2004 AT&T BUSINESS SERVICES Centralized Engineering 

  • Position within the Centralized Engineering group was that of a pooled resource and team was utilized on a variety of AT&T's customer base.
  • The roles varied from account to account, but all roles were at a high level, including LAN/WAN design and implementation.
  • Some of the accounts assigned to were Sun Micro systems, and Master Card.
  • Heavily involved with implementing configuration and design changes for the Master Card account.
  • A key engineer, all aspects of a global network was handled by this group.

March 2001 - June 2003 AT&T SOLUTIONS/ MCGRAW HILL GCSC Operations Assigned as a Tier III on the McGraw-Hill Networking Team.

  • Responsibilities include 7X24 support of McGraw-Hill's Global Wide Area Network. The WAN is comprised of primarily Nortel (Bay) Routers of all varieties, and also responsible for Management of the clients Ascend,Extranet, Accelar, and Versalar Switches.
  • Advanced trouble diagnosis, and resolution are the primary function of this assignment.
  • Responsible for integrating with the teams engineering group, to evaluate and implement all WAN changes for the client.
  • Technologies used on a daily basis include, but are not limited to the following:

March 2000 - March 2001 DYNAX SOLUTIONS Senior Systems Consultant

  • Performed all the duties as mentioned above for AT&T & the Mcgraw-Hill Client Team.
  • A consultant for Dynax, assigned to AT&T.

February 1999 - January 2000 TEK SYSTEMS Senior Network Consultant

  • Under contract with a large financial institution (BB&T Bank) job functions are centered on being the administrator for the branch automation/software user acceptability-testing project. 
  • Responsible to the client as a technical resource, as well as a system administrator and trouble-shooter. 
  • Windows NT and NetWare 4.11 are the primary operating systems.
  • Responsible for developing procedures and documentation on various portions of the project. 
  • Functioning as an all around technical resource for multiple aspects of the project.
  • Job functions include but are not limited to the following: testing new applications, system loads, SMS packages, printing, problem definition, problem resolution, application and operating system support.
  • Portions of the job function were to develop the technical aspect to delivering the applications to 600+servers, and 6000+ desktop users in multiple states.  This portion of the assignment involved working close with development on the creation of an automated install process, combined with the use of custom batch files and Microsoft SMS.  " The primary hardware used was Compaq, all of the servers were hand assembled, and was responsible for all hardware troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair. This often-included changing memory, PCI cards, hard drives, installing RAID5 arrays, modems and all manner of add on cards.
  • Also, performed hub/switch installs, and some structured cabling (CAT5).

March 1998 - January 1999 TEKSYSTEMS Network Administrator

  • On assignment for a large multi-national Ferris metals company (Elkem Metals). 
  • Responsibilities are for all the servers in North America. 
  • Operating systems include Novell 3.X & 4.X, HPUX 10.X, DG-Unix Microsoft NT, and Citrix.
  • Many of the servers were Oracle database servers running on a variety of platforms. 
  • Developed a cross platform printing solution for the account.
  • A portion of time was spent consulting with current IT staff on current technologies, and developing/designing a new infrastructure. 
  • Topologies include Fiber, 10Bt, 100Bt half and full duplex. 
  • Working with development team on a re-addressing scheme for North America.
  • Involved and consulted on all aspects of the client's current and future networking operations. 
  • Job functions included but were not limited to, 24X7 desktop/server support for multiple sites around the US and Canada in a third level support capacity. 
  • Deployment of NT based HP-Open-view system for LAN/WAN 24X7 monitoring.
  • All aspects of hardware installation were my responsibility including PC installs, troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair.
  • Responsible for cost justifying the purchases of new hardware, researching its purchase, and arranging its acquisition. 
  • All levels of repair onsite, including memory; add on cards, hard drives, hubs, switches, cabling. 
  • Were also tasked with setting hard ware minimum standards for any users, which were to be using any NON-standard software to ensure functionality on the network.

February 1998 TEKSYSTEMS Senior Systems Consultant

  • Under contract for a large banking firm to re-design their network management environment. 
  • Re-developed existing deployment of Netview 6000 system. 
  • Provided recommendation for NOC trouble shooting procedures. 
  • Developed interactive trouble shooting guide-using Visio. 
  • Worked variety of shifts in the NOC as a router engineer, using Cisco routers/switches, and providing additional support for existing staff.

April 1996 - December 1997 COMPUTER HORIZONS CORPORATIONS Senior Systems Consultant 

  • Members of the GTE south area install team. 
  • Job responsibilities were the ESP implementation of the designs rolled out by the ESP design team.  This includes cabling, building servers, and installing servers, hubs, gateways, and switches.
  • Following the conversion was also the desktop support for resolving user problems. 
  • Employed was the use of a sniffer for base-line documentation and any necessary problem resolution. 
  • All installs were documented to the port level detail with the use of VISIO. 
  • The primary infrastructure installed consisted of HP-Net servers, Bay Networks hubs (D5000), Bay networks switches (28200), and Bay networks routers (many varieties). 
  • A variety of communication servers were deployed for remote dial - up OOB access. 
  • Cabling done was also a variety including CAT5 (10Mb & 100Mb) RS-232, ST-Fiber, FDDI rings and much more. 
  • This assignment involved installs all over the east coast.

January 1997 - May 1997

  • A member of GTE's National Network Design Team.
  • Job responsibilities were to re-engineer GTE's entire sites nation wide to enhance and improve their infrastructure. 
  • Been personally involved with re-engineering sites from 20 users, to 2000 users. 
  • Designed sites from Florida to California.
  • These design tasks were aimed at developing an operating system independent infrastructure.  The desire was to develop networks that could and would operate under any OS, or a blend of multiple protocols and operating systems. 
  • As part of the assignment, visited the locations and physically documented they're existing cable plant, and network.
  • This being done returned to the office and designed a new cable plant to bring the location to design.  When a design was completed, management and a panel of my peers reviewed it.  When approved it was scheduled for install.
  • Many of the networks designed were very large and very complex heterogeneous environments. 
  • Operating systems and technologies employed: UNIX (multi vendor), Banyan, Communication Servers, X.25, and much more.

April 1996 - January 1997

  • GTEDS a consultant in the INS group at GTEDS.
  • Job capacities at this assignment were Network Site Support.  These duties include 7X24 support of GTE's largest data center. 
  • Though tasked as a general LAN support person, led the trouble-shooting, and development of the Attachmate Gateways at the technical Center. 
  • Many other instances worked closely with third level national support, to define and resolve LAN/WAN issues. 
  • Often led all level of trouble shooting on this assignment. 
  • Other experiences in this role include, but are not limited to TCP/IP, hubs, bridges, routers, X.25 & Irmalan Gateways, SNMP, sniffers, UNIX, Ethernet switches, and NT. 
  • Vendors utilized in this assignment: ODS, Bay networks, 3Com, HP, UB, Synoptic, HP-Openview, Hub tool, Optivity, RMON, VAX, SUN and much more.

April 1996 - December 1997

  • Conducted technical interviews for potential networking contractors for CHC in Florida.

June 1994 - April 1996 RCG INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES, INC. Senior Systems Consultant 

 

  • On assignment at NYC Board of Education.
  • Job functions there started as a LAN/WAN troubleshooter. 
  • Developed in to LAN supervisor/trainer. 
  • Worked on the Novell (Token Ring) based environment in the capacity of LAN manager, and lead troubleshooter.
  • Supported user base of approximately 300 on 22 floors.
  • Developed and installed a SNA Gateway solution for 3270 emulation to the desktop.
  • Re-built LAN and provide full detail documentation to the client. 
  • Developed and implemented viable back-up, restore procedures.
  • Wrote a disaster recovery plan for the segment of the LAN responsible for.

June 1994 - September 1995 REPUBLIC INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES, INC. Senior Systems Consultant 

  • Reporting to the president. 
  • Supervise company operations as they apply to the installation of network technology for a 500+ customer base. 
  • Wrote disaster recovery plans for a variety of customers, develop, plan and implement gateway solutions for customers to provide mainframe connectivity. 
  • Interact with various vendors and technical support on behalf of the customer. 
  • Manage the computer lab and supervise and train the computer lab technicians. 
  • Work as a technical lead installing Novell, NT, LANtastic, or SCO UNIX networks and customizing them for the user. 
  • Supervise the implementation of training goals and management plans to complete Novell and Microsoft certification for technical staff. 
  • A large portion of responsibilities was the management/participation in the computer repair lab. 
  • Handled a wide variety of repairs for many customers.
  • Repaired or replaced anything that was wrong with the PC equipment brought in to us. 
  • Depending on the problem we often performed component level diagnoses of the "stricken" equipment, including but not limited to power supplies, monitors, disk drives, video and much more.

1992 - 1994 CONTEMPORARY INC. Management Information Specialist

  • Small Corporation with a well-known clientele. 
  • Manufactured name tags for AVIS, AMTRAK, Wegman's Supermarkets, and others. 
  • Developed, designed, and implemented all management information systems, procedures, and policies. 
  • Designed developed specifications for, acquired, and installed Novell network. 
  • Maintained and supported telephone system. 
  • Maintained monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports on IBM Platinum Accounting System.
